Man seriously injured in overnight assault in Dublin city centre as Gardai appeal for witnesses

The man was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a serious, but stable, condition

Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses after a serious assault took place in Dublin city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene on Talbot Street, Dublin 1 shortly after 1am on Sunday morning, October 6.

Upon arrival they discovered a male, who is aged in his 30s, had suffered serious injuries after what appeared to be an assault.

The injured man was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

In the hours since the incident, a technical examination of the scene has been completed.

With an investigation launched, Gardai are now appealing for witnesses, particularly those who may have camera footage of the area between 12.30am and 1.30am, to make contact with authorities.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Any road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the Talbot Street area between 12:30am and 1:30am to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with information regarding this assault is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 6668000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
