Donegal stabbing: Man and woman arrested as man hospitalised following assault

Gardaí were rushed to reports of an assault at a house in the small Donegal town of Ballybofey at around 9pm on Wednesday evening

A man and a woman have been arrested after a man was rushed to hospital following an alleged stabbing in Co Donegal.

Gardaí arrested the man and woman, both aged in their 20s, following an assault at a residence in Ballybofey, Donegal at around 9pm on Wednesday night.

One man, aged in his 30s, was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries while the man and woman arrested have been detained at a Garda station in Donegal. Gardaí did not confirm the hospitalised man's condition.

Gardaí confirmed the two arrests and added that investigations into the reported stabbing are ongoing.

“Gardaí have arrested a man and woman following an assault which occurred at a residence in Ballybofey, Donegal at approximately 9pm on Wednesday, 16 October,” a Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror.

“A man in his 30s was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to receive treatment following the incident.

“The man and woman (both 20s) are currently detained at a Garda Station in Donegal under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations ongoing.”
