Eminem's daughter Hailie Jade has revealed how she managed to hide her pregnancy until her dad announced the happy news in an emotional video.

The 51-year-old rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, made the announcement in his music video for Temporary, which is a letter to his daughter in the event of his death. One moment in the clip shows footage of him and Hailie sitting on some steps when she hands him a Detroit Lions blue jersey emblazoned with the words "Grandpa 1" and an ultrasound.

The shocked Houdini rapper holds it up and shows it to the camera as his jaw drops in surprise. And after the news became public this week, Hailie revealed that her friend Brittany Ednie helped her keep the pregnancy a secret when they attended a wedding together "a couple of weeks ago".

During Friday's episode of their Just A Little Shady podcast, Brittany explained she was secretly drinking all of Hailie's alcoholic drinks so nobody would suspect that her friend was pregnant. She revealed: "So she was, you know, grabbing a drink, not consuming the drink as a responsible parent does.

"Whenever people were turned around, she would hand me her drink, and I would chug so it looked as if she was continuously drinking throughout that night." Mum-to-be Hailie said Brittany was "taking one for the team" by doubling up on her drinks even though she didn't ask her friend to do so.

She said on the podcast: "I'll defend myself, though, because I never really asked you to do it. It was like an unspoken thing with our eyes." Up until that point, Hailie said her husband Evan McClintock had been secretly sipping on her drinks during social events.

However, on that occasion she was holding a lavender lemonade cocktail, which her husband didn't want to drink, so Brittany offered to have it. Hailie recalled: "Evan was like, 'I don't want that.' But you were like, 'Oh, I'll take some drinks of it.' So I feel like you kinda volunteered yourself for that one."

Hailie announced her engagement to Evan last February and the couple got married in Battle Creek, Michigan, in May this year. Taking to Instagram at the time, Hailie penned: "Waking up a wife this week. We couldn't have asked for a better, more beautiful weekend celebration.

"So so many happy tears were shed, laughs & smiles were had, & so much love was felt. Evan and I are feeling so grateful for all of the family & friends that traveled to support us and be a part of this new chapter of our lives as husband & wife."

After Eminem and Kim Scott welcomed their daughter Hailie on December 25, 1995, the music star said her birth was a "real wake-up call" to "get my a** in gear" as he told Q magazine in 2001: "Everything that I am doing right now is for Hailie. The money—it's for her college." Eminem and Kim also adopted two children, Alaina Marie Scott and Stevie Laine Scott.

Despite their tumultuous relationship which saw them break up and get back together a number of times, before divorcing for good in 2007, Kim said Eminem has always been an "excellent" father. She said in a 2007 interview with 20/20: "He loves the kids very much. He's always lending a helping hand."
