Aidan O'Shea has made history this evening by scoring the first-ever goal worth four points in Gaelic football.

The new four-pointer rule is being trialled at tonight's interprovincial series clash between Connacht and Leinster at Croke Park.

O'Shea took full advantage of the rule when he raised a green flag inside three minutes, burying low into the corner past Stephen Cluxton inside two minutes after a fine, surging run from Matthew Tierney.

The sparse crowd at Croke Park will witness seven new rules in action this evening, including the solo-and-go, four-points for a goal, two-points for a score outside a new arc between the 'd' and 45, and many more.

Connacht's clash with Leinster is the first of two games taking place at Croke Park this evening, with Munster taking on Ulster at 8pm.
