Michael Schumacher: Three family events that may have softened wife Corrina's stance

Michael Schumacher reportedly made his first public appearance since a skiing accident in 2013 at his daughter Gina's wedding and it is claimed the Formula 1 legend's wife Corinna is softening her stance on her husband's privacy

Michael Schumacher is said to have made his first public appearance in years after he attended the wedding of his daughter Gina.

The 27-year-old married Iain Bethke over the weekend at the family's luxury villa in Majorca, with reports from Germany stating that Michael was there as his daughter walked down the aisle. Schumacher has been receiving round-the-clock medical care since a skiing accident in December 2013 in the French Alps.

The Formula 1 legend spent several months in a medically induced coma after hitting his head on a rock and has been looked after by his wife Corinna since he was released from hospital in September 2014.

Corinna has been fiercely protective of her husband's privacy, with only a few trusted friends and relatives allowed to visit him. However, his attendance at the wedding is a sign that Corinna 'might finally be ready to open up the couple's world a little more', claim the Daily Mail.

The report states that Gina's wedding is one of three family events in recent months that suggests as much, with the event said to be the first time Schumacher has been seen in a public setting since the accident.

Strict privacy measures were still in place, though, with guests reportedly asked to leave their phones at the door so they could not take photos of Schumacher. His younger brother Ralf was in attendance, having admitted last year that he was no longer in close contact with Corinna and Michael.

However, it is claimed their relationship is now 'back on track' after Ralf came out as gay earlier this year. Ralf is in a relationship with his business manager Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne, following his 2015 divorce from model Cora.

The report notes that there have been rumours the Schumacher family were concerned about Cora's 'potential to be indiscreet', but they 'have no concerns' about Ralf and Etienne after they were both invited to Gina's wedding.

Schumacher's son Mick is also said to have got engaged to his girlfriend Laila Hasanovic, with the report stating that she is the only one of his partners that has been allowed to visit Michael. It is also claimed that another wedding could 'further offer a balm to family relationships'.
