Drone Targets Israeli PM Netanyahu’s Home Days After Hamas Chief’s Killing

New Delhi: A drone, launched from Lebanon, exploded near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea, in southern Haifa, on Saturday, reported Reuters.

The incident is significant as it comes just two days after Israeli strike eliminated Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza.

According to a spokesperson of Netanyahu, he and his wife were not present in the vicinity at the time of the attack.

Two other drones fired from Lebanon were brought down by Israel’s air defences, triggering sirens in Tel Aviv.

A third one struck a building in Caesarea, resulting in a loud explosion. Saudi outlet Al-Hadath reported that a part of the building was damaged.

The drone flew about 70 kilometres from Lebanon to the building in Caesarea, Israeli media reported.

However, no casualty was reported in the Lebanese drone attacks.

The attack is considered to be in retaliation to the killing of Sinwar, who masterminded the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel that triggered the Gaza war.

Israel, which has been targeting Sinwar for a year, recently shared a video of the Hamas chief’s last moments.
