188 Chinese nationals and 355 Myanmar citizens arrested in a raid in Muse

Violence broke out during a raid on an online gambling operation in Muse, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the Manbain militia group and joint security forces. Several soldiers and officers sustained injuries in the clash.

The raid, which occurred on September 23, led to the arrest of 188 Chinese nationals and 355 Myanmar citizens, alongside the seizure of over 700,000 yuan and equipment, including 58 mobile phones.

Major-General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson for the State Administration Council (SAC), stated that the operation was initiated after receiving intelligence about gambling activities near the Mingalar Muse Housing area. As security forces moved in, they faced gunfire from the Manbain militia, who were reported to be attempting to escape to the Ho Sang area.

During the raid, which continued over September 23 and 24, authorities seized five weapons in addition to detaining those involved in the gambling operation. Major-General Zaw Min Tun noted that the Chinese nationals would be repatriated under immigration law, while legal proceedings would follow for the Myanmar citizens.

He emphasized ongoing cooperation between Myanmar and China in addressing law enforcement and security matters, in line with agreements established by the leaders of both countries.
