PDP Vows To Reclaim Mandate After Lawmaker’s Defection To APC

by · Naija News

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has voiced strong disappointment over Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the PDP, Gummi’s move is seen as a betrayal, not only to the party but also to the people of Gummi/Bukkuyum, who entrusted him with their mandate under the PDP.

The party’s spokesperson, Andi Haliru, issued a statement in Gusau, stressing that Gummi’s defection occurred without any internal party conflict, suggesting a lack of commitment to PDP’s principles and values.

In response, the PDP announced its intention to pursue legal action to contest Gummi’s defection and reaffirm its commitment to restoring the mandate given to him by the people of Gummi/Bukkuyum.

We firmly believe that his actions undermine the democratic process and the mandate entrusted to him by the constituents.

“In response to this breach of trust, the PDP state chapter will be taking legal action to challenge Hon. Gummi’s defection

“We are determined to ensure that the mandate given to him by the people of Gummi/Bukkuyum is rightfully restored.

“We want to assure the good people of Gummi and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas that the PDP remains strong and united.

“Our commitment to serving you and upholding your interests will not waver.

“We will fight vigorously to reclaim the trust that has been compromised by this decision,” the party declared.
