‘I Have Been Battling With Kidney Disease For 12 Years’ – Nollywood Actress Ufuoma McDermott Opens Up

Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott, has opened up about battling kidney disease for 12 years, revealing that she also lost her younger brother to chronic kidney disease.

Naija News reports that the thespian, in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwu, said she cannot afford to add weight due to her health condition.

Ufuoma said she was also diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease last year and was told to slow down at work and rest, but she thought she had more time and negotiated with her doctors.

The actress noted that despite the warnings of her doctors, she stressed her body, and she was shortly diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease.

Ufuoma said he had thought about dying because of what happened to her brother.

The movie star added that she found her way back from Stage 4 kidney disease, and it changed how she lived her life.

Why I Will Never Provide Free Services To My Home State

In other news, veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, has declared that she will not offer free services to her home state of Abia, citing a lack of support during her health struggles.

In a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio, the 61-year-old actress recounted how the Abia state government neglected her during a serious health crisis in 2012, which led her to this firm decision.

Nwosu, who faced a kidney-related illness, stated that she has since made a commitment that any future services would require substantial compensation from the state.

I have personally said it that there is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free.

“They would pay through their nose for me to be there. I am from Arochukwu local government, Abia state,” she stated.

Nwosu also shared that during her health struggles, she received vital assistance from the Lagos state government, thanks to a woman who referred to her as her “favourite actress.”
