Galatasaray Coach Laments Over Victor Osimhen’s Absence

Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk has expressed his disappointment at the absence of Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen in the club’s recent UEFA Europa League match against Rigas FS.

Despite initially leading with a two-goal advantage, the team ended up drawing 2-2 with their Latvian opponents in the absence of Victor Osimhen.

Note that the 25-year-old Nigerian striker was unable to participate in the game due to a muscle injury he sustained in a Turkish league game against Kasımpaşa last weekend.

Recall that Osimhen scored two goals before he was substituted from the match which ended in a 3-3 draw.

Before the injury, Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Italian Serie A side Napoli, had scored twice and provided four assists in four appearances so far this season.

After Galatasaray’s unexpected 2-2 draw with Rigas FS, coach Buruk emphasized the significance of Osimhen’s presence in such a crucial match.

The coach said, “Of course, we can have shortcomings here. Victor Osimhen was not there because he was injured.

“With him, you can find more solutions in such matches.

“We saw that Icardi also moved around more and played more comfortably; but of course, I had higher expectations from the players who entered later in the game.

“Unfortunately, we could not do this. We had to produce more.”
