Ameesha Patel Declined SRK's 'Chalte Chalte', Reveals Being Made To Feel Guilty By Him

Ameesha Patel opened up about how Shah Rukh Khan had made her feel when she declined 'Chalte Chalte'.

Ameesha Patel had a grand comeback with Sunny Deol in Gadar 2. She became an overnight star with her debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. However, the actress missed many opportunities and had earlier done films that did not rake at the box office. She also declined a few movies that later became super hits. One of the films was Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji's Chalte Chalte. Ameesha missed the movie because her secretary failed to inform her. However, she revealed SRK's reaction after discovering that she had rejected the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan had taken Ameesha Patel to the dubbing studio

Ameesha Patel revealed that she did not regret the films she declined. However, she admitted that a few of them became commercial hits. During an interview with the YouTube channel BeautybyBiE, Ameesha remembered how SRK had shown her what she had missed by declining Chalte Chalte. She quipped:

"When the film was about to release and Shah Rukh was dubbing for it, he took me into the dubbing studio and showed me a few edits. He said, ‘Come, Let me show you a few edits of some footage of a film that you declined.’ I replied, ‘Shah Rukh, what have I declined?’ and he said, ‘This.'”

Ameesha Patel had agreed to miss out on movies

The actress, in the same interview, mentioned that she had missed out on films. While some of them became colossal successes, others failed. Regarding Chalte Chalte, Rani Mukerji became the lead heroine opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The 2003 movie was one of the biggest hits of the year. Aziz Mirza directed the movie and Satish Shah, Lilette Dubey, and Johnny Lever played pivotal roles. 

When Ameesha Patel's career got a boost with Gadar 2

Gadar 2 was made 22 years after the success of Gadar 1. The sequel could not match the standards of Gadar, which had a historic success. However, Ameesha revealed that she and Sunny had to make many corrections in Gadar 2. During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha recounted:

"There were a lot of corrections made in Gadar 2 by Sunny and me to make it what it was because it was being steered in a direction that we were unhappy with. We did a lot of reshoots for it and a lot of editing on our part. There was a lot of “creative discomfort that Sunny and I both had, and the journey was not an easy one. We both did a lot of editing, reshooting".

Ameesha Patel highlighted the issues she had faced with film projects.

Earlier, during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ameesha revealed that she had faced issues with the work being given to her and the folks managing her work. She said that for a long time, there was a hierarchy of secretaries and managers; they didn’t let projects get to the actor.
