The Surrey RCMP says a woman is now facing murder charges after the victim in a September stabbing died of their injuries.

Mounties in Surrey say a woman was sent to hospital after being stabbed in the early morning on Sept. 8.

Police were called around 2 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the area of King George Boulevard and 108 Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman who was unconscious and covered in blood. It was then that they determined she hadn’t been involved in a motor vehicle accident, but had been the victim of a stabbing.

That day, police said a possible suspect had been found and taken into custody. A 36-year-old woman was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon at the time in relation to the incident.

In a release Monday, Mounties announced that the suspect has now been charged with second-degree murder after the victim died in hospital on Sept. 13.

The suspect remains in custody awaiting her next court appearance.
