Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets at an Israeli military base in the northern region of the country on Sunday, as Israel and the militant group continue to exchange fire amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The militant group said the attack, which targeted the Ramat David airbase, near the northern city of Haifa, was “in response to the repeated Israeli attacks that targeted various Lebanese regions and led to the fall of many civilian martyrs," the Associated Press reported.

"We have entered a new phase, the title of which is the open-ended battle of reckoning," Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Qassem said on Sunday.
