A raunchy conversation about sex on Loose Women this week left panellist Katie Piper looking visibly uncomfortable - as she cried out, "Make it stop!" amid the racy chat.

Katie, along with co-panellists Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Linda Robson on the ITV daytime show, were discussing the upcoming Disney+ adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper's risqué 1988 debut novel, Rivals, which will star David Tennant in the lead role, and is set to premiere on October 18.

And Ruth, 64, claimed she "remembered those books very well", before opening up a conversation with her Loose Women co-stars, asking: "Straight away it got me thinking, where did you learn about sex?"

However, Katie seemed eager to steer away from the conversation, immediately telling Ruth: "You're giving me the ick, I don't want this chat at lunchtime with my coffee."

Her reservations were not shared by her co-panellists, with Ruth responding: "Katie, you're a grown woman now, you're allowed to talk about sex." Katie then turned to the camera and said, "Hi, mum,", telling Ruth: "I know she's watching!".

Katie went on to explain: "We didn't really talk about it at home. We learnt about it in science, in a really biological way. I don't know, we didn't have the Internet."

Coleen asked her: "Did you not have chats with your mum?", to which Katie responded: "No! Stop probing me!"

Coleen, 59, then joked: "It was all trial and error with me. That's how I learned, trial and error. Mainly error."

But, like Katie, she echoed: "My mum, actually, was terrible at talking about anything like that. I would never go to my mum, she just didn't want to talk about it. I was very lucky I had five older sisters, so if I was worried I could ask them."

Coleen also said that this has impacted the way she approaches the subject with her own three children, adding: "I think it made me the way that I am with my own kids, where it was a very, very open discussion.

"Whenever they wanted to know anything, or ask me anything that they were worried about, I always made it a safe space where we could talk about anything. I didn't make it embarrassing or awkward for them."

Meanwhile, Linda Robson, 66, said that she mostly learned about sex from reading books and magazines, and joked: "I remember reading 50 Shades of Grey and thinking, how lazy is my husband?!"

The audience erupted into laughter as Katie once again buried her face in her hands and cried, "Make it stop!"

Wrapping up the segment, Ruth told Katie: "I think you've coped very well with that conversation."

The segment was featured on Tuesday's episode of Loose Women (October 1), which you can watch now on ITVX. Otherwise, Loose Women airs on ITV from 12.30pm on weekdays.
