A man was rushed to hospital after a crash on the South Devon Highway early this morning (Thursday, October 10). Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the scene at around 3.55am.

The crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers closed the northbound carriageway as a man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The road reopened at around 8.15am. There was heavy traffic on the South Devon Highway and Hamelin Way, with vehicles backed up to Marldon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on the South Devon Highway at Torquay at around 3.55am today, Thursday 10 October. A man was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening or life changing.

"Local road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the scene. The road was reopened at around 8.15am."
