Two in hospital amid large-scale hazard response at care home

A major incident has been declared at a care home in the South West, as two people have been rushed to hospital. A large-scale emergency service response has been reported in Swanage, Dorset, with emergency services personnel in hazmat suits at the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed they were alerted to an incident along Ulwell Road, at 5.20am today. The service also dispatched 10 double-crewed ambulances and "a significant number of additional resources".

Two residents from the care home have been rushed to Poole Hospital, suspected to be at the heart of the incident, according to The Mirror.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said they were called to assist ambulance crews at 7.47am. They added: "We currently have four fire crews on scene from Swanage, Wareham, Westbourne, Poole, a support vehicle from Dorchester along with two crews from Winchester (Hampshire and IOW FRS).

"Firefighters are working with Dorset Police, South West Ambulance Service and other partners to resolve this incident."
