Strictly Come Dancing fans hit out at judges as they accuse them of 'favouritism'

Strictly Come Dancing fans expressed their disappointment on Saturday night as they questioned the judges' scoring for some of the contestants. The BBC show is in full swing with the remaining celebrities entering their sixth week in the competition.

Last Sunday, BBC viewers were taken aback when JB Gill found himself in the dance-off, despite earning a respectable score of 30. However, the judges chose to save him over sports star Paul Merson, making him the fourth person to exit the competition alongside Tom Dean, Toyah Willcox and Nick Knowles.

This weekend another contestant's journey on the BBC show will conclude, although each is hopeful their spooky routines will impress viewers at home. However, viewers weren't pleased with some of the scores given for routines, particularly Wynne Evans and JB Gill.

Wynne and Katya performed a Salsa to the song Canned Heat by Jamiroquai and earned themselves a score of 31, putting them on par with Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał. JB and Amy took to the dance floor for a Foxtrot to Dancing in The Moonlight and earned a high score of 32.

Criticism erupted on Twitter as viewers slammed the judges for awarding what they deemed excessively high scores. One viewer expressed their disbelief: "Wynne well overmarked IMHO It was more 25 or 26 and definitely not a 31. Judges have the people they like and they pick up an extra point per judge. Seems unfair to me but it's not a dance show anymore.", reports the Mirror.

Another chimed in with: "Wynne getting overmarked again."

Frustration was palpable as someone else vented: "The scoring this year has been all over the place, specifically for the men... They are all overmarked every single week."

"Both JB and Wynne were massively massively overmarked. Way way too much messing around and losing all technical aspects. An absolute joke," another viewer ranted.

Comments continued as one person remarked: "A 9 for that? Overmarked to keep him safe."

And yet another tweet read: "Wynne and Katya overmarked again. Was I watching another dance? ! " Despite JB's high score, he found himself in the bottom two the following Sunday. Reflecting on his dance-off experience on It Takes Two, JB stated: "I mean we got 30! So it wasn't like we got a shammy score! Of course, it's always disappointing I think when you put so much work into training and obviously you work hard in the week like everybody does to not have the result that you want which is to go through to the next week, to find yourself in the dance-off is always a little bit disheartening."

JB remarked on the fierce competition, stating: "It's not what you're looking for but the level of competition this year is very very high. You can see that the standard is right up there so it's one of those things. It's part of the show and of course, it meant that I got to do the dance again."

BBC viewers will be on tenterhooks until Sunday night to find out if JB has managed to steer clear of the dance-off for a second week running.
