Strictly Come Dancing returns to screens tonight and BBC viewers will be keeping an eye on Wynne Evans and Katya Jones after a controversial live show. The dancing duo were forced to explain themselves after fans spotted Wynne attempt to rest his hand on Katya's waist, which she promptly brushed off, sparking concerns she felt uncomfortable.

Professional dancer Katya told fans in a video they were "messing around in the Clauditorium" during Saturday night's show (October 12) and apologised for the "silly joke". Wynne added a caption saying the pair "really are amazing friends".

Viewers, however, weren't laughing and expressed discomfort at the scene. One said: "Sorry guys how is that a joke? Ok the refusal to do the high five and the eye roll, yep get that, but the hand slowly moving across Katya's stomach, and her moving it away and looking seriously uncomfortable? How is that a 'joke'?"

Fans hoping to catch the results show can tune into BBC One at 7.20pm today (Sunday, October 13).

Addressing the viewers' disquiet, Katya shared a video stating: "Hello everybody it's Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke."

Wynne added: "Yes, sorry."

Accompanying the message, Wynne also posted: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5's is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones."

The contentious duo achieved a score of 34 for their Tango routine to ABBA's "Money Money Money" on Saturday (October 12) evening. Judges Anton Du Beck and Craig Revel Horwood gave them 8s, while Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse scored them nines.

Anton hailed the performance as "tremendous" with Craig showing his approval by declaring, "loved it" and robustly stating: "Winner, winner, winner."
