Liam Payne’s family ‘utterly devastated' as they break their silence after One Direction star’s death

Former One Direction star turned solo artist Liam Payne has been confirmed dead after a fall in Buenos Aires, Argentina and his family have released a statement following his passing

Liam Payne’s family have said they are “utterly devastated” following the death of the singer.

Former One Direction star Liam Payne has died following a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina, police say.

Liam's family have released a statement expfressing their grief at the loss of their son and brother.

They said, via family spokesperson: “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul."

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Liam has two older sisters, Nicola and Ruth, and the family are together in their home town of Wolverhampton at this difficult time.

His mother Karen is a nurse, and his father Geoff is a fitter.

Liam is also the father to seven year old Bear, his only son, who he shares with former partner Cheryl Tweedy.

"Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo,” Buenos Aires police said in a statement.

The star had "injuries incompatible with life" after his fall, a spokesperson for Buenos Aires's ambulance service provider has reportedly said.

Authorities say they will conduct an autopsy and investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
