Social welfare Ireland: Government confirms payments will increase for families who claim these benefits

During the Budget 2025 announcement, there were several rate increases and updates to popular schemes.
The Guardian’s payment and the newly named Child Support Payment increased, while others remained the same.

Here are the updates:
Guardian’s payment
- The Guardian's Payment (Contributory) will go from €215 to €227
- The Guardian's Payment (Non-Contributory) will go from €215 to €227
Child Support Payment (previously called Increase for a Qualified Child)
- The weekly rate for children under 12 will go from €46 to €50 on the full rate or €23 to €25 for those claiming the half-rate
- The weekly rate for children aged 12 and over will go from €54 to €62 on the full rate or €27 to €31 for those claiming the half-rate
Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance
- There is no rate change for each qualified child aged 4 to 11. It will remain at €160.
- There is no rate change for each qualified child aged 12 and over. It will remain at €285.
Child Benefit
- There is no rate change for Child Benefit. It will remain at €140.
Working Family Payment income limits
- The income limit for one child will go from €645 to €705
- The income limit for two children will go from €746 to €806
- The income limit for three children will go from €847 to €907
- The income limit for four children will go from €938 to €998
- The income limit for five children will go from €1,064 to €1,124
- The income limit for six children will go from €1,180 to €1,240
- The income limit for seven children will go from €1,316 to €1,376
- The income limit for eight children or more will go from €1,412 to €1,472
Social welfare recipients are in line for some major boosts in the month of November, with several dates pinpointed for once-off payments.
Here is a list of the cost of living measures that will benefit families:
- Once-off payment of €400 to people getting the Working Family Payment in the week beginning 4 November 2024
- Once-off payment of €100 for each qualifying child to people who get an increase for a qualified child in the week beginning 25 November 2024
- Two double payments of Child Benefit for each child, one to be paid on 5 November 2024 and the second on 3 December 2024.
- Once-off payment of €400 to people getting Domiciliary Care Allowance and/or the Carer’s Support Grant in the week beginning 11 November 2024
