Greggs opens new Durham shop creating 10 new jobs for the area
by Emily Gray · ChronicleLiveGreggs has opened a new shop today in Durham Tesco Extra, creating 10 new jobs for the area.
The shop will stock Greggs’ freshly prepared favourites for customers to enjoy, including the popular Sausage Roll, Steak Bake and vegan alternatives, in addition to a range of drinks including Cloudy Lemonade and Iced Mocha, which are only available in limited shops across the UK.
Customers can also take advantage of Greggs’ deals throughout the day, including its famed breakfast combinations offering a breakfast roll or baguette alongside an orange juice or hot drink - served until 11am every day.
As Christmas approaches, the much-loved Sweet Mince Pies that have just returned to shops nationwide will also be on offer in the new Durham shop. It will also stock the hot food range - including Southern Fried Chicken Goujons, potato wedges and a variety of pizza slices.
The new Durham shop comes just weeks after the baking giant announced a 'world first' Greggs champagne bar collaboration pop-up with Fenwick in Newcastle, open now until New Year's Eve.
Customers looking to skip the queues and grab a bite on the go can order through Click + Collect via the Greggs App - offering tasty rewards, and new users also receive a free hot drink of their choice on registration, as well as a free sweet treat to celebrate their birthday each year.
Shop Manager, Jonny Russ, said: "We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop. We’ve got an amazing range of tasty bakes, hot drinks, sweet treats and savouries available for takeaway or Click + Collect."
Gillian Long, Retail Operations Director for Greggs, added: "Our new shop in Durham Tesco Extra has brought 10 new jobs to the local area, as well as providing customers with a modern, convenient new place to experience their favourite Greggs food."
The new shop, located at Tesco Extra on the Dragonville Industrial Estate, will feature a modern design and open from 7am - 7pm on Monday to Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sundays. New jobs created at the Durham Tesco Extra shop will be posted on Greggs website.
