The race for the season's first domestic silverware heats up as the Carabao Cup moves into its last-16 stage. Newcastle United are still in the hunt for a first-ever League Cup success having twice been finalists in the competition.

Eddie Howe's team take on Chelsea this evening at St James' Park, having lost 2-1 to the same opponent on Sunday in a Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge. All the big names are still in the competition with holders Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle's opponents Chelsea all still in the hunt for the trophy.

Both Manchester clubs are also still in the running, with United hosting Leicester City tonight in what will be Ruud van Nistelrooy's debut game as interim manager.

Meanwhile, Manchester City will continue their quest for more trophies when they face Tottenham Hotspur in a later kick-off. Given the League Cup's reputation as an early-season opportunity for silverware, it's expected that most managers will take these matches seriously, albeit with potential changes to their line-ups.

When is the Carabao Cup draw?

Should Newcastle progress, we've got all the details on the upcoming draw for the quarter-finals; The draw is set for Wednesday, October 30, after Spurs' match against City concludes. That game starts at 8.15pm, so ideally, the draw should happen no later than 10.45pm UK time.

Fans can catch the draw live on Sky Sports following the Spurs v Man City game, and it should also be available for streaming on Sky Sports Football's YouTube channel. As for who each team could potentially face in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, there are no restrictions in this draw.

When are the Carabao Cup quarter-finals?

The Carabao Cup quarter-final matches are scheduled for the week beginning Monday, December 16. The semi-finals will be played over two legs, starting from January 6 and the second leg commencing the week of Monday, February 3.

The final is set to take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, March 16.
