Man suffers serious leg injuries after collision between car and motorbike at The Silverlink

A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following a collision between a motorcycle and a car at The Silverlink.

Northumbria Police received reports of a road traffic collision at The Silverlink in Wallsend shortly before 8am today, where it was reported that a car and a motorbike had collided.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 40s, has been taken to hospital after sustaining serious injuries to his leg.

"The driver of the car remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.

"A section of the road is currently closed and motorists should look to use alternative routes."

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service also said: "We were called to a road traffic collision this morning (October 25) at 7:48am at Silverlink Industrial Park in Wallsend. We dispatched one ambulance crew and one clinical team leader to the incident. One patient was taken to RVI hospital."
