John Fury, father of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has shared a poignant moment with boxing legend Mike Tyson that moved him to tears. The emotional exchange took place on the set of 'Boxing Arabia' earlier this year, where John revealed that his son was named in honour of Iron Mike.

As Mike prepares for his fight against Jake Paul and Tyson gears up for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, a video clip from the encounter has resurfaced online. In the clip, John tells Mike: "I have waited 35 years to meet this man."

He then shares his deep admiration for Mike, recalling how he would wake up at 3am to watch his fights in the 1980s.

The tribute went further as John explained the significance behind his son's name, saying, "I said, 'hear these words. [Tyson Fury's] not only going to live. He's going to be seven feet tall, 20 stone, and the next heavyweight champion of the world, and his name is Tyson'," which visibly moved Mike Tyson, according to the Mirror. Overwhelmed by the revelation, Mike abruptly ended the interview, pushing away the microphone and calling out: "Time, time, stop, stop."

John Fury, father of boxing star Tyson Fury, made headlines when he challenged boxing legend Mike Tyson at a press conference ahead of an anticipated bout in October 2023. Despite naming his son after the icon, Fury Sr was undeterred by Tyson's support for Francis Ngannou over his own son, reports Wales Online.

"I'm sat in the company of these great people, Mike Tyson on the end who I named my son after, I named my son Tyson. But you know what? Give me a special mention, the man who bred him," Fury Sr stated. "John Fury fears no man, no man on earth no matter what they've done, no matter what the accolades. Here I am, any man alive wants to fight John Fury, I'm ready to go, Mike Tyson what have you got to say to that my brother? " Tyson's response was simply that Fury Sr was "out of his mind".

However, Fury Sr believes Tyson's choice of Jake Paul as an opponent is more about avoiding him than seeking a worthy match. Even in April, Fury Sr continued to challenge Tyson.

Despite his past as a pro boxer and bare-knuckle fighter, many are questioning if Fury Sr is taking on more than he can handle by challenging a legend like Mike Tyson. Yet, his bravado remains undiminished as he continues to seek this formidable clash.

John Fury, the father of world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has voiced his astonishment regarding Mike Tyson's latest choice of opponent. In an interview with Seconds Out, he questioned, "I'm the same age as him. What the hell is wrong with him," and relayed that even Royal figures like Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, were taken aback.

"Even Turki (Turki Alalshikh, Saudi Arabian Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority) said... His Excellency said, 'I'm shocked Tyson didn't want to fight you',"
