Police called to Newcastle street after concerns raised about dogs in vehicles

Police were called to a Newcastle street after concerns were raised about dogs in vehicles in the area.

Officers descended on an area of Heaton on Thursday afternoon after receiving reports about a number of dogs. A police van, a car, and a number of officers could be seen near to the Sainsbury's supermarket at Etherstone Way as inquiries were carried out.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson: "At around 1.30pm (today), we received a report of concern for a number of dogs in vehicles on Etherstone Avenue in Newcastle. Inquiries are ongoing to trace the owners."

No further details regarding the call-out were released and police were still on scene by 5pm. Chronicle Live has approached the RSPCA for comment.
