Woman, 27, dies after being stabbed near football stadium station

A 27-year-old woman tragically lost her life after a stabbing incident near Bescot Stadium Station in Walsall, West Midlands. , Rhiannon Skye Whyte died in hospital on Wednesday with her loving family by her side, having sustained serious injuries from an attack that happened last Sunday.

Her grief-stricken family have released a statement following her death: "The most loved daughter, compassionate sister, loving aunty, gracious granddaughter, beautiful niece, wonderful cousin and devoted friend."

They continued, "The most selfless person you were brave, quirky, funny, and always there for anyone who needed it. There is not enough paper in the world to even begin to write a tribute for you, but no one deserves it more. The weird thing about this devastating loss is that we now need to navigate life without you, but how? ".

Deng Cholmajek, an 18-year-old from Walsall, was apprehended and charged with attempted murder subsequent to the attack. With Rhiannon's passing, detectives will look to update the charges he faces.

He remains in custody and is due for his next court appearance at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 19, reports the Mirror.

Authorities are still encouraging those with any information to step forward. A British Transport Police spokesperson implored the public: "Anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016 quoting 11 of 21 October. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Bescot Stadium Station, the gateway to Walsall FC's home ground, is just a seven-minute stroll across the River Tame and the M6. The League Two side, currently sitting in second place, were not in action on Sunday.

They've kicked off the season in fine form, securing victories in eight of their twelve league matches so far. West Midlands Trains operate services from the station, which was originally opened in 1850 before undergoing a major refurbishment in 2007.

It sits on the Chase Line, connecting Birmingham New Street and Walsall.
