Man arrested after woman left with facial injury in doorstep attack in Northumberland

Emergency services were called to Wheatriggs Avenue in Milfield, near Wooler, Northumberland, at around 7.30pm on August 21, where a woman was reported to have sustained facial injuries. Officers from Northumbria Police attended the scene, however, it was reported that the offender, an unknown man, had already fled the area.
Police have now confirmed a 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the incident.
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) despatched an ambulance crew to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital. The victim was discharged from hospital.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 7.27pm last night (Wednesday 21 August) to reports of a person injured at a private address in the Wooler area. We dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene and transported one patient to hospital for further treatment."
