Police appeal over Jesmond crash that left teenage boy with serious injuries

by · ChronicleLive

A teenager hit by a car on Jesmond Dene Road last week remains in a stable condition in hospital, having suffered serious injuries.

Northumbria Police has now appealed for information following the collision, which took place near to the Blue House roundabout at around 4.25pm on Friday October 18.

The teenager, 17, was on foot when the vehicle, a red Mini Clubman, struck him in the road. The reasons for the collision are yet to be established, police said.

The boy was seriously injured and remains in hospital, while the Mini's driver remained at the scene and continues to assist the police investigation. The road was closed for several hours.

Officers from the force's Roads Policing Unit have launched an investigation and now are calling for any witnesses, especially those who may have dashcam footage or CCTV, to come forward.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Northumbria Police by sending a direct message on social media, using the live chat or "tell us about" pages of the force's website. You can also call 101. You are asked to quote reference number: NP-20241018-0779.
