Man suffers serious head injury following 'group fight' in early hours in Blyth

Officers were called to the Stanley Street area of Blyth just before 3.20am Sunday morning

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after a group fight in Blyth.

The man was injured in the Stanley Street area of Blyth in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Northumbria Police were alerted to a disturbance in the area shortly before 3.20am on Sunday, October 6.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported a group of people had been fighting in the street.

“A man – in his 30s – was found to have sustained a serious head injury consistent with having been assaulted. He was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment.

“An investigation has been launched to establish the full circumstances and locate those involved. Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and offer reassurance to the public.

“Anyone with information is asked to get in touch by sending us a direct message on social media, or using live chat and report forms on our website."
