After nearly a decade off the menu, the 1980s cult favourite McRib is making its long-awaited return to McDonald's across the UK. The last time it was seen was in 2015 when fans flocked to order it.

The return of the McRib has been celebrated by TikTok channel @madaboutmaccies, which shared a video showing how the burger is made from start to finish. A statement from McDonald's describes the beloved burger: "The McRib starts with seasoned boneless pork dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce, topped with slivered onions and tangy pickles, all served on a toasted homestyle bun."

"When everything combines you have BBQ pork sandwich perfection. But its availability is limited – stay tuned at your local McDonald's for when the McRib is available near you."

According to the video, the process begins with warming the barbecue sauce before grilling the McRib patty for approximately 106 seconds.

Next, the cooked McRibs are added to the barbecue sauce to marinate while the buns are toasted. Onions and pickles are then added as dressings before the McRib patty is placed on the bun to complete the burger, ready to be handed over to the customer, reports the Mirror.

One Reddit user commented on the McRib, saying: "I want to try it. After reading your review, will ask for extra pickles. I tried the Ribwich at Universal Orlando and was disappointed. Needed more pickles and it was a bit dry but enjoyed the 'rib'."

Another enthusiast shared their experience: "I love them! I've had six so far and just can't get enough. I ordered without pickles and wished they had a less sauce option like Burger King does. I'll be sad when they're gone again."

Meanwhile, a third chimed in with a tip: "It tastes very good with less sauce than they normally put. When you order it, tell them to hold back on it. It makes a world of difference."

Yet another fan recounted their nostalgic encounter: "The last time I had a McRib was whenever they were last available. Bought one immediately upon seeing the advertisement. The first two bites were a pleasantly tasty walk down memory lane. The last bite was met with the realization I'm good for another 10+ years."

Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK, expressed his excitement about the McRib's return to the UK menu on October 16: "It is more than just a sandwich; it's a phenomenon. We have heard our fans loud and clear the fan petitions and pleas on social and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item."

He added, "Knowing how well-loved the McRib is, we had very little choice we had to make it happen. It was time to step up and satisfy the cravings of McRib enthusiasts across the country."
