Egypt’s President, Lebanese PM discuss efforts for ceasefire in Lebanon
by Egypt Today staff · EgyptTodayCAIRO- 11 November 2024: On the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
They addressed the developments of the ongoing contacts with various international and regional parties to push for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701, said the Egyptian Presidency in a statement.
President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanon, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also voiced Egypt’s rejection to and condemnation of the Israeli aggression, whether in the Palestinian territories or Lebanon.
Additionally, President Sisi stressed the importance of the role of the international community in stopping the escalation in the region and preventing a spillover of the conflict into a regional war with disastrous repercussions on the present and future of its peoples.
The Lebanese Prime Minister valued Egypt's steadfast and firm support for Lebanon, and stressed support for Egypt's efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the region.
Egypt has sent several shipments to Lebanon to stand with the Lebanese people since the escalation of Israeli war against it.
In his speech at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, President Sisi called for a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
