As officially announced by the NBA, Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid has been suspended for three games without pay.
The suspension comes after Embiid shoved a member of the media in the 76ers’ locker room following the team’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
“Mutual respect is paramount in the relationship between players and media in the NBA. While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter’s column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical,” Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, said.
Embiid’s suspension will begin with the next NBA regular-season game for which he is eligible and able to play.
After winning Olympic gold with Team USA, the 2023 NBA MVP has yet to play a game in the 2024/25 season.
