After beating Real Madrid to open the season, Bayern Munich prevailed also over Olympiacos on a night to remember.

The final score was 84-80. Carsen Edwards scored 30 points, while Devin Booker had 20 for the winning side.

Olympiacos got 16 points by Sasha Vezenkov who missed twice the chance to give his team the lead in the closing seconds.

“I am just happy we got the win. We started off a little slow but I think just coming together and trying to get stops on defense, that’s just the best part for us,” Edwards told EuroLeague TV after the final buzzer.

Bayern now has a 3-2 record with three home wins, while Olympiacos dropped to 2-3 in the Turkish Airlines Standings.

Bayern closed the game perfectly

Olympiacos started the game with a 6-2 lead, but Bayern answered back with a 9-0 run (11-6) to turn things around and closed the first period up by one point (20-19).

The Germans had the advantage (32-28), however, Olympiacos closed the first half with a furious 15-0 run and got a solid 43-32 lead.

The roles changed, and Bayern chased the score, closing the gap. Finally, Bayern got the lead back (55-54) with a free throw by Edwards, an offensive rebound on the miss of the second attempt, and a layup by Booker.

Olympiacos was up by two (61-59) entering the last quarter and everything was possible. Bayern got the 66-65 lead with Edwards scoring at will.

Tyler Dorsey scored a key three for the Greeks (68-66) and Shaq McKissic followed with one more (71-66) creating some distance for Olympiacos.

Bayern didn’t give up and saved the best for last. With a 13-1 run the Germans made the score 79-72 entering the last three minutes and Shabazz Napier contributed key shots and finished the game with 10 points.

Olympiacos with two threes by Thomas Walkup and Dorsey made it again a one-point game (79-78). With the game on the line and Bayern leading 82-80, Vezenkov missed a three, Edwards traveled in the next play, and with 34 seconds left, the Greeks had the ball.

Vezenkov took responsibility for a three and missed again. Edwards was fouled and he sealed the deal (84-80).

“Vezenkoc had two open shots to make, on the other side Shabazz Napier made two crucial shots and everything was decided in the end”, said Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas.
