A driver fled after killing a commercial motorcyclist riding against traffic on Thursday in Lagos.

Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, Adebayo Taofiq, said this in a statement.

According to Taofiq, the motorcyclist was fatally injured while riding against traffic on Cater Bridge, Lagos.

The deceased, reportedly travelling from Ebute Ero, collided head-on with a fast-moving vehicle as it ascended Cater Bridge from Illubirin.

The forceful impact of the collision led to the immediate death of the motorcyclist while the vehicle driver ran away.

Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased.

Bakare-Oki strongly reiterated the importance of strict adherence to traffic laws, particularly emphasising the prohibition of commercial motorcycles on highways and other restricted routes as mandated by the Lagos State Government.
