Edo 2024: Alia congratulates Okpebholo on victory

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has congratulated the governor-elect on the platform of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo, over his victory in last Saturday’s governorship polls held in Edo State.

The Governor describes the victory of Senator Okpebholo, who scored 291, 667 votes and won in 11 local government areas, to defeat his main rival, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 247, 274 votes, as victory for democracy. 

This was contained in a statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, on Monday.

Governor Alia, in the statement, posited that the success of the APC in the Edo State governorship election is an indication of the trust and love the Edo people and Nigerians in general, have in the policies and programmes of the APC led government in the country.

He also assures the governor elect of his support, a robust working relationship and partnership for the progress of their respective states and the country in general.

“The Governor prays to God to grant Senator Okpebholo good health and a long political life as he steps in to steer the affairs of the State, urging him to use the victory as a platform to offer purposeful leadership to the good people of Edo State and beyond,” the statement added.
