29-year-old man commits suicide in Ogun

A 29-year-old man, Yusuf Taofeek, has reportedly taken his own life in Ogun State.

According to information available to The Eagle Online, the case was reported at Ibafo Divisional Police Headquarters on September 10.

The case was reported at about 1:15pm by a man identified as Yusuf Olajide Surajudeen, who is said to be the older brother of Taofeek.

Surajudeen told operatives at the station that earlier that day, at approximately 10am, he received a call from the wife of the deceased, Yusuf Wasilat. 

She informed him that his brother, Taofeek, a resident of Aseese Oloke Street in Ibafo, had taken his own life by ingesting a harmful substance, hypo. 

He was rushed to God’s Circle Hospital in Aseese, Ogun State, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty. 

The Divisional Police Officer promptly sent officers to the scene for further investigation. 

According to a report, photographs were taken.

The report said there were no signs of violence on the body of the deceased, which has been moved to Real Divine Hospital’s morgue for autopsy. 

Investigations revealed that the deceased was a mechanic from Kwara State and had recently been involved in an accident with a customer’s vehicle, which was severely damaged. 

The report added: “This incident may have contributed to his depression and subsequent actions. 

“The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided.”
