Just in: Abia PDP Rep dumps party, joins APC
by Osuntuyi Olamide · The Eagle OnlineA member of the House of Representatives, representing Ukwa East/West of Abia State, Chris Nkwonta has reportedly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced this on the floor of the House during plenary on Wednesday in Abuja.
Reacting to the defection, the Deputy Minority Leader Aliyu Madaki quoting a section of the constitution called that Nwonta’s seat be declared vacant.
In his response, Speaker Abbas informed Madaki that he is aware of a faction in the PDP.
