Police nab member of three-man gang known for motorcycle theft in Ogun community
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday, said it thwarted the operation of a group of criminals known for motorcycle armed robberies along the Agbele/Igbepa route in Sagamu axis of the state, resulting in the arrest of one suspect, while two others escaped with gunshot injuries.
This was as the command disclosed that it had launched an investigation to track-down the fleeing members of the dangerous gang alleged to have been involved in several cases of motorcycle theft in the past.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the development, noted that the gang faced the setback when information from local residents reached the Sagamu Divisional Police officer on patrol.
“On October 30, 2024, around 6:50 PM, police officers conducting patrols on High Court Agbele Road received a tip-off about a three-man robbery gang active along the Agbele/Igbepe route, targeting innocent victims for their valuables .
“The officers quickly responded to the scene, but upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee on their motorcycle.

“The officers pursued them,and successfully apprehended one armed robber, identified as 26-year-old Segun Owoduti, while the other two escaped into the nearby bushes,” Odutola narrated.

The police spokesperson noted that two victims, one Bello Sodiq and Udeju Zaccheaus, provided statements indicating that while traveling from Agbele to Igbepa around 6:30 PM, they were violently attacked by the trio on a motorcycle who brandished a pistol and stole their phones, the total value of which is still unknown.
“Preliminary investigations are underway, and the case will be passed to the SCID ABK upon completion of initial investigations,” Odutola added.
