LG Poll: Gov. Alia declares work-free day

The Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared October 4, 2024 as a work-free day. 

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, revealed the declaration in a statement he issued on Wednesday.

Alia said the declaration was necessitated by his desire to give the electorate of Benue State ample opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas in preparation for the LG poll scheduled for October 5, 2024.

Kula said: “His Excellency emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged all citizens to take advantage of this work-free day to exercise their civic duty. 

“He expressed confidence that with the right commitment and participation, the elections will be conducted smoothly and fairly.

“The Governor further urged all public and private sector organizations to support the initiative by allowing their employees to utilize this day for travel and preparation. 

“He also charged the citizens to prioritize peaceful conduct and collaboration during the elections, reinforcing the need for unity and cooperation among all parties involved.”
