Queen Mary of Denmark stuns onlookers with surprise visit to Australia
by Kinta Walsh-cotton For Daily Mail Australia · Mail OnlineQueen Mary of Denmark had locals doing a double take on Wednesday when she was spotted flaunting her athletic frame at Bronte Beach in Sydney.
The Danish monarch, 52, donned casual athleisure wear as she enjoyed the breathtaking scenery with 13-year-old daughter Josephine.
The mother-of-four opted to go incognito in all-black with husband King Frederik nowhere to be seen following the anniversary of his affair rumours, which were strenuously denied.
The royal couple were plagued with speculation of marital struggles after the King, 56, was pictured in Madrid with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova last October.
Queen Mary appeared to be all smiles as she made the most of the seaside locale before embarking on the Bronte to Bondi walk, and taking in Sculptures by the Sea, Australia's largest annual outdoor sculpture exhibition.
The Tasmanian-born beauty, who was last in Australia for a personal visit in December, donned a long-sleeved black shirt and shorts for her outing.
At one point, she was spotted jogging through the sand with a friend as she pulled her brunette tresses back into a ponytail.
Hiding her face behind a pair of dark shades and a cap, Queen Mary pulled off her shirt to reveal a tank top underneath when it became too hot.
Queen Mary last visited Australia in December with her youngest children, twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 13, to spend Christmas with her family.
While the trip was a personal one, with the Queen keeping a low profile without her husband present, the monarch had an official royal engagement in Australia just months earlier.
She visited Sydney for a day in late April 2023 to 'participate in an event with Danish business representatives involved in the green transition in Australia, as well as visit a number of Danish-clad projects related to sustainable construction and transport'.
Queen Mary's trip Down Under comes one year after her marriage to King Frederik was plagued with rumours of marital struggles after he was pictured out in Madrid with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova, 47, on October 25, 2023.

Queen Mary of Denmark turns heads in a £970 pencil skirt in Berlin
During a 'private visit' to Madrid, the King, who was then the Crown Prince of Denmark, was seen strolling through the city with the TV personality.
While wife Queen Mary, the Princess of Denmark at the time, was away on royal business in New York, the King attended a Pablo Picasso exhibit with Genoveva before sharing a private dinner at a traditional Flamenco restaurant until the early hours, as reported by a Spanish publication.
Following publication of photos which showed the King and Genoveva on their evening out, rumours of an affair between the pair circulated—which were strenuously denied by Genoveva.
However cracks began to appear in Queen Mary and King Frederik's relationship following his night out with Genoveva, and the couple, who have been married for 20 years, displayed frosty body language towards each other in public appearances.
It's unclear where King Frederik was on Wednesday as the Queen jetted to Australia.
However, the pair were spotted together just last week as they were welcomed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender in Berlin.
