Big Brother fuming amid reports Joey Essex will feature on new series

Joey Essex will reportedly feature on the upcoming series of civilian Big Brother which begins on Sunday night - and fans aren't happy.

The reality star, 34, has just come out of filming the most recent summer series of Love Island but is now set for more TV work.

This comes despite him saying after his controversial stint on Love Island and a cameo on Selling Sunset that he would be 'taking a huge break' from reality TV. 

Joey is not earmarked to be a contestant but will feature in the upcoming civilian series, according to The Mirror.

A source told the publication: 'Joey will absolutely appear in the new series, though he won't be a contestant. 

'As a reality TV veteran he is the perfect person to present to the housemates - he knows exactly what they will be feeling so he will be a real asset to the series.

'His full involvement is shrouded in secrecy but he made such brilliant telly on Love Island, ITV bosses are thrilled he is taking part.'

ITV and representatives for Joey have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Reacting to the news fans weren't happy - as they said they had seen enough of him on their screens this year.

They penned on X: 'This better not be true.', 'I hope this is fake. He can't go on Selling Sunset and claim to buy a $5 million house and then go on Love Island AND BB.',

'Enough! Can I watch a programme without him popping up!!?',

'Pls no. He ruined love island this summer.',

'don't want it #BBUK.', 'This series will be dead before it starts then.',

'Didn't he literally just do the exact same thing a few weeks ago on Love Island?!? Not to hate on the lad but I think apart from this show & MAFSUK, he has done every other reality show going.'

After Love Island came to an end this summer Joey appeared on This Morning alongside then partner Jessy Potts where he told hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle: 'I'm taking a huge break.

'I feel like I've done every reality show possible - I don't think I'd really want to do Strictly. I'm just taking a break and I've got some opportunities over in America.' 

It comes after Joey broke his silence on his split from Jessy, after the couple called things off last month just seven weeks after leaving the Love Island villa.

The ITV2 stars, who met on the latest series of the dating reality show, confirmed the break up with former TOWIE star Joey insisting he hopes to stay friends with Jessy, 25.

The pair said they 'tried to make their relationship work' but after leaving the show it 'just wasn't meant to be'.

Joey then spoke out for the first time since they announced the news and revealed what happened between the pair. 

When quizzed by Goss.ie at the launch of the latest tanning range from Iconic Bronze, the reality TV icon replied: 'Unfortunately, we just parted ways. I wish her all the best.'

Joey was also questioned on the possibility of making an appearance on the second season of Love Island All Stars, which he quickly shut down.

'I mean not right now no,' he confirmed, 'that's definitely not in the pipeline right now.'
