Queen Letizia of Spain cut a stylish figure in a belted denim dress this evening as she presided over an environmental awards ceremony in Madrid.

The smiling royal, who celebrated her 52nd birthday earlier this week, presented the Retina Eco awards, now in their fourth year, at the Spanish capital's Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía.

Often admired for her contemporary wardrobe, the mother-of-two selected a £730 dark denim midi dress by New York-based brand Carolina Herrera for the prestigious event.

The sleeveless, crew neck dress with white topstitching cinched at the waist thanks to a wide belt cut from the same dark denim.

Meanwhile, the waist belt allowed the skirt of the dress to kick out, creating feminine silhouette.

Fashion-forward Letizia paired her outfit with striking red accessories, including a large leather clutch bag and pointed-toe kitten heels.

The former journalist wore her shoulder-length, dark brown hair in a sleek blow dry and tucked behind her ears to reveal elegant gold hoop earrings.

Still radiant from the Spanish royal family's annual summer holiday in Mallorca, Letizia kept her make-up simple for the occasion.

She added only subtle bronze eyeshadow, black mascara and a slick of glossy lipstick.

Photographed presenting the awards and talking to other guests, Letizia appeared thrilled to be presiding over the ceremony, which honours those behind the most innovative projects tackling climate change and driving sustainability.

Queen Letizia's birthday week proved to be a busy one for the royal.

Yesterday, she looked typically elegant as she inaugurated a training course in Castro Urdiales, a seaport in northern Spain.

The mother of Princess Leonor, 18, and Infanta Sofía of Spain, 17, opted for a twist on smart business attire for the course opening at the Professional School.

She wore a cropped shirt with blue and white stripes and stylish cut-outs for the engagement.

Letizia paired the shirt with black cigarette pants and classic block-heel sandals. She completed her sophisticated look with a pair of diamond encrusted earrings.

The royal  kept her make-up minimal, adding just a brown smoky eye and rose-tone lip gloss.

During the event, Letizia posed for photographs next to a sign that read: 'Her Majesty the Queen inaugurates the 2024-25 Professional Training Course at the IES Doctor Jose Zapatero Dominguez'.

The courses, called FP (Formación Profesional) centres on vocational study to prepare students for specific occupations.
