Lorraine Kelly swoops in as granddaughter cries during TV debut
by Niomi Harris For Mailonline · Mail OnlineLorraine Kelly swooped in to the rescue on Tuesday's show as her adorable granddaughter made her TV debut.
The presenter, 64, delightedly welcomed her daughter Rosie and 'beautiful' granddaughter Billie to viewers, with the sweet moment coming 30 years after Lorraine welcomed her own child on the show.
However, in typical baby fashion, little Billie vomited up her milk before proceeding to burst into tears as mum Rosie attempted to soothe her.
Unfazed, Lorraine launched into granny mode as she swept baby Billie up into her arms and proceeded to rock her to sleep.
The Scottish star was thrilled by the presence of her first grandchild and joked to Dr Hilary Jones and the viewers that rocking the baby was now her 'new job'.
She then proceeded to introduce the next part of her show as she gentle rocked her granddaughter in her arms.
Viewers watching at home were left touched by the lovely family moment, taking to social media to share their comments.
They penned: 'So lovely to see the happy moment reenactment, well done Rosie you are a natural mummy, Billie is beautiful.
'Awwww congratulations Lorraine, Billie is gorgeous. Rosie is a dead ringer of you.'
Elsewhere, while Lorraine doted on the top, some viewers found themselves distracted by her outfit choice.
The broadcaster looked chic in a burgundy top with a black angled panel across the top, but some compared it to the uniform worn by those on sci-fi series Star Trek.
Taking to the comment on X, formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their humorous observations.
They wrote: 'I've just turned on, is Lorraine joining Star Trek?'

Meanwhile, new mum Rosie took the opportunity to talk about how she's coping with her first child, noting that she's getting 'a little sleep', while not putting 'pressure on herself' with breastfeeding.
Rosie also opened up about struggling with postpartum anxiety and feeling fearful for her baby.
She explained: 'I think postpartum depression gets spoken about a lot but I didn't really know about postpartum anxiety.
'I think a lot of people say 'Oh, your hormones are mental, and you'll have all these feelings'.
Opening up to her mother and Dr Hilary about her feelings, Rosie went on: 'I was very prepared to feel like, "Oh, I'm not good enough. I'm not doing well enough". I wasn't prepared for not feeling safe and I thought that's not normal.'
After Dr Hilary reassured her that it was 'normal' for some women to feel this way after giving birth, Rosie, who said she is now 'OK', added: 'I feel like after the first six weeks hit, the fog has gone off and I can enjoy it a bit more.'
Rosie is the breakfast TV presenter's only child with her husband Steve Smith and announced her pregnancy in April.
Announcing the news with a photo of the newborn's hand to Instagram, Lorraine wrote: 'I have been BURSTING to share this wonderful news with you! Baby Billie is an angel and I’m so proud of Rosie and Steve who will be the best parents.
'I’m delighted to be Granny Smith and can’t wait to go on adventures.'
Rosie added: 'Baby Billie Kelly Smith-White is here 29-08-2024.'
'It feels like she’s been here the whole time and we’re not quite sure what the point of anything was before.
'I’d heard how amazing midwives are but they are genuinely walking angels - she’s been welcomed into the world with so much love already.'

Lorraine Kelly fans all make the same joke as she finally returns to ITV morning show
Last month the new grandmother praised daughter Rosie as she showed her post-baby body just weeks after giving birth amid the presenter's body positive campaign.
The new mum shared a mirror selfie from one week postpartum, with Lorraine showing the photo on Lorraine's show.
Admitting she was 'so proud' the presenter said: 'I'm so proud of her. I think she looks absolutely beautiful.
'That is how you look when you've had a baby! I'm very proud of her for doing that, and that was what was so good as well is that she got an amazing reaction.'
In the caption Rosie wrote 'Never thought in a million years I’d post a pic of me in my pants on social media (especially disposable ones) but here we are…
'This is one week after the birth and I kind of expected my tummy to be more jelly by now and thought I’d be in absolute bits about how I look but it’s not even a thought just now - it’s grown a life and brought our Billie into the world.
'I’ve been looking back on pictures pre-pregnancy where I thought I looked horrible but now I think I looked totally fine - so true what people say about looking back and then thinking how silly you were being at the time. Finally have a positive relationship with my body - just taken 10 months of carrying our girl.
'I wish I’d been more kinder to myself and in the words of Moira Rose ‘take a million pictures of yourself naked’. I was also prepped for my boobs being huge but WOW.'
Back in May, Rosie confirmed she would welcome a baby girl with partner Steve and was adamant the child's name will have strong ties to her Scottish heritage.
Rosie told HELLO!: 'We'd talked about it a lot and we both wanted to become parents quite young, so that our parents can be around for as much as possible.'
She was also keen to reference the child's Scottish ancestry when choosing a name, but admits she's having a hard time finding one.
'I really wanted to have a Scottish connection and we had a Scottish boy name sorted, but girls are hard. I’d like to have options,' she explained.
Celebrating Rosie's pregnancy on her ITV show, Lorraine told viewers: 'I'm going to be a granny! How exciting is that? Granny Smith because, you know, my married name is Smith!'
She continued: 'So I'm Granny Smith! We're all very excited, it's huge and wonderful and yeah... it's just cheered everybody up, which is just great!
'Thank you to everybody who has sent me messages, it was really kind of you... thank you very much, it means a lot, it means a lot!'
