Six pupils and adult treated after chemical incident at London school

Six pupils and an adult have been treated by medics after a chemical incident at a London school.

Ambulance crews were rushed to Emerson Park Academy in Hornchurch alongside members of their Hazardous Area Response Team to reports of a chemical incident.

One woman and six teenagers were treated at the scene, before being discharged.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 1.20pm today to reports of an incident in Wych Elm Road, Hornchurch.

'We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and an incident response officer.

'The first of our crews arrived in four minutes.

'Our crews assessed one adult and six teenagers at the scene, before discharging them.'

London Fire Brigade added that they were also called to assist at the incident after London Ambulance Service were at the scene.

They said: 'We were called at 1336 today to assist emergency service colleagues at a chemical incident at a school on Wych Elm Road in Hornchurch. 

'One woman and five teenagers were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.'

Emerson Park Academy, in east London, is an academy school which was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in 2022.
