John Amos' daughter claims 'psychopath' brother kept actor hidden

John Amos' daughter Shannon has revealed her heartbreak at being denied the chance to say goodbye to her father as she accused her 'psychopath' brother of deliberately isolating the beloved actor for what she feels was a cruel 'game.'

John died on August 21, aged 84, but his death was not announced until October 1 when Shannon, 58, and other members of her family say they were left blindsided at finding out the devastating news through the media.

Her brother Kelly Christopher 'K.C.' Amos, 54, had been the only family member in contact with John in the months leading up to his death, following a public feud which saw her previously accuse her sibling of elderly abuse.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Shannon broke down as she expressed fears that her father likely 'died alone,' and claimed K.C had moved his father from 'jurisdiction to jurisdiction' in a bid to prevent contact.

'I believe my brother is a sociopath or psychopath... this is all a game to him,' she claimed.

K.C claimed that his father died in Los Angeles from natural causes.

John's death certificate was obtained by TMZ, and confirmed the family's fears that he was cremated on August 30, just nine days after his death.

It also revealed that K.C is in possession of the actors ashes, and that no autopsy was performed.

The death certificate also lists the cause of death as congestive heart failure, with K.C. listed as the 'informant,' meaning he told the authorities of his father's passing.

Confirming that the last time she saw the Die Hard 2 actor was October 2023, Shannon claimed her brother, who she believes 'suffers from bipolar disorder,' had made it virtually impossible for the family to contact John for over a year.

'[K.C.] changed his phone numbers,' she claimed. 'He doesn't respond to our emails. We emailed him some time ago, reminding him that my father needed his pacemaker changed. He likely didn't even do that and now we'll never know the truth.'

In the years before John passed, the feud between his children - both from his decade-long marriage to his late ex-wife Noel 'Noni' Mickelson - made headlines.

In 2023 Shannon accused her brother of elder abuse.

The Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation but it was later closed after John denied her allegations and the police found no evidence of wrongdoing.

John later claimed that he was a victim of 'elderly abuse' by Shannon, who he claimed had 'taken advantage' of him.

However, ayahuasca shaman Shannon has now accused her estranged brother of coaching her father to make that statement.

Opening up about her failed attempts to get the authorities to intervene, Shannon stated: 'The problem with all of these agencies... There's no national registry for Adult Protective Services, just like there's no national registry for Child Protective Services.'

She claimed her brother was ‘moving [their] father from jurisdiction to jurisdiction’ to avoid their questions about his care.

Shannon also claims she had endured a similar battle when their mother died in 2016, accusing K.C of allegedly attempting to isolate her.

'With both my mother and father, it has been 24 years of legal suffering, pain [and] worrying about my parents,' she said.

'And I think the only semblance of peace that I have right now is knowing that both of them are free.'

'[K.C.] changed his phone numbers,' she claimed. 'He doesn't respond to our emails,' she said
She added: 'I was barred from the hospital by my brother. All family members were'

She tearfully recalled her final interactions with her dad in July 2022 and October 2023, when she was forced to 'sneak into the hospital' in Memphis to check in on him.

'I was barred from the hospital by my brother,' she said. 'All family members were and yet, I snuck past security. I walked every floor, and by the grace of God, I found my father in the hallway.

'He didn't recognize me at first, and that's when I realized how bad this dementia was. But then he did, and he gave me a hug, and he told me he loved me, and then security escorted me out.'

Explaining how the family has been coping with the news, she continued: 'We're all angry, grieving, and we should really just be able to process this and grieve.

'So since October 2023 I've literally been grieving not being able to see him, not being able to talk to him because he was isolated from all family members and friends.'

Her father's niece, Sherri Korsun Scott, also claimed K.C. had isolated John from the family despite their repeated attempts to connect.

'He would not give us; Shannon, me, anybody else in the family, any word on him or any way to speak to him,' she told DailyMail.com, adding that the fallout has 'almost overshadowed his legacy.'

The actor was best known for his role as Kunta Kinte in the landmark mini series Roots about the African-American experience of slavery
John scored an Emmy nomination for his role in the ABC-TV series which was based on the book by author Alex Haley and became one of America's most watched show in the late 1970s

She continued: 'I didn’t speak out in the past because it just made my stomach hurt to think about it... because I didn't want to make him angry or disappointed because he still had to read this stuff. But right now, I just want everybody to know.'

Her daughter, Alisha Noelle Ford, added how the family's estrangement from John was painful due to the fact he was a 'very family oriented' man.

She began: 'Uncle Sonny [his family nickname] offered a lot of different cousins, different experiences. He paid for my college. He let people live with him.'

Alisha continued: 'I want people to know that the family did fight. People think that,” Oh, you weren't reaching out to him or no one knew”, but they don't know behind the scenes.

'What my mom has done, what Shannon has done, what Quiera [John's granddaughter] has done, all other family members, me included. What we have done to just try to even gather information.

'They've been trying to do so much and just haven't gotten anywhere. Just been blocked.'

John's god daughter Amy Goudy reiterated the claims in a lengthy statement on her Facebook on Tuesday, and accused K.C., along with Eugene Brummet and John's assistant Belinda Foster of isolating him.

Shannon previously accused Belinda of impersonating her on the night John died in hospital.

John also famously portrayed patriarch James Evans in the first three seasons of CBS' groundbreaking sitcom Good Times, which aired for a total six seasons spanning 1974-1979

'KC portrayed an image of a close father-son relationship on social media, but the reality was far more complex. Our father suffered from dementia, and KC often gave John verbal prompts to create a narrative on social media that was not reflective of the truth,' the statement read.

'We were deeply concerned that our father may have been neglected and isolated during his final days as we received photos from concerned neighbors and a medical professional. One photo even prompted an Elder Abuse investigation to no avail.'

The statement claimed the 'situation mirrors Shannon and KC's mother's passing' and that the family want 'critical questions' answered.

The statement said the family 'refuse to rule out the possibility of foul play, especially given the involvement of two individuals, Eugene Brummer and Belinda Foster (who claims to have been John's spokesperson), who we believe may have taken advantage of his vulnerability as an elder.'

KC has yet to respond publicly to these allegations, and hasn't posted publicly on his Instagram or TikTok pages since August 13, just eight days before John's death.

DailyMail.com has contacted KC for comment.
