A British woman has died after a suspected 'domestic accident' at home in Majorca.

The 55-year-old former British Airways air stewardess was found by her husband with a head injury after he returned yesterday evening from a work trip away.

The partner, also believed to be from the UK, dialled 999 but emergency responders could not save her when they arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.

The woman was discovered lying on the floor of her living room in the town of Soller in northern Majorca, and the alarm was raised at about 10.30pm.

Police were mobilised with medical responders, and an investigation is now being conducted by the Civil Guard which is reporting to a court in Palma.

The exact nature of the suspected 'domestic accident' has not been confirmed, although the woman is understood to have had a head injury.

The woman - who has only been identified locally so far by her initials EVK - is thought to have moved to Soller several years ago with her husband after taking early retirement. MailOnline has contacted British Airways for comment.
