Jealous woman attacked her ex and a mother-to-be after seeing them

A jealous woman attacked her former boyfriend and a young mother-to-be after mistakenly thinking they were in a relationship.

Lynn Dunn drove her car towards former partner Alan Cook, 51, and 22-year-old Georgina Stead in a fit of jealousy after seeing them leave a hotel together.

The 54-year-old spotted them in the car park having apparently lain in wait for them, where the pair tried to run away from her.

Dunn drove at them in a 'very fast and dangerous manner' but braked next to Mr Cook's van, then got out of her Skoda and dragged Miss Stead to the ground by her hair, calling her a 's**g' before driving off.

Miss Stead, who was 22 weeks pregnant at the time, was left with whiplash, minor concussion, grazing to her knee and a clump of hair taken from her scalp. She has since given birth to a daughter.

The incident occurred after Dunn, from Widnes, Cheshire, believed Mr Cook was in a relationship with Miss Stead. In a Facebook post last April, she wrote: 'What kind of 50-year-old gets a 22-year-old pregnant? Alan Cook that's who, dirty t***p and she is a big s**g.'

A court heard that Mr Cook and Miss Stead were not in a relationship but had been staying at the Campanile Hotel in Runcorn to 'support each other.'

Andrew Sinker, prosecuting said: 'On May 6, Alan Cook came back from work around 3pm and he parked his car at the Campanile Hotel. Georgina Stead and Alan Cook and another person all went into a room where they were staying.

'Georgina Stead walked down the stairs and headed out of the hotel. She looked left and noticed that Alan looked anxious, concerned that Lynn Dunn had turned up.

The court heard that Dunn's silver Skoda had turned into the car park, and Miss Stead 'ran back' to the entrance of the hotel and told Mr Cook to run towards the underpass next to the hotel.

Mr Sinker added: 'Lynn Dunn accelerated around the corner to where Alan's van was parked. She slammed on the brakes next to Alan's van and somebody ran back to get staff in the hotel.

'Alan Cook stood on the grass trying to avoid Lynn Dunn but she got out of the car and shouted towards Alan Cook and Georgina Stead and called her a s**g. She stated that she was going to get her.'

After' screaming and shouting', Dunn got back in her car and drove it at the pair but slammed on the brakes and 'just avoided' hitting them.

'She feared she was going to run them over.

'A staff member came out of the hotel and Lynn Dunn was told to leave. Lynn Dune then got out of the car, walked towards Georgina Stead, looked at her in the face and grabbed her by her hair, and pulled her to the floor twice.

'She pulled a chunk of her hair out as she dragged her to the floor. It made her feel scared, low and humiliated. Lynn Dunn drove off.'

Mr Sinker said that Miss Stead was left with whiplash and minor concussion. She suffered from PTSD which caused her mental health to suffer. She also had a graze to her knee and a clump of hair was pulled out.

'There was some degree of planning. She waited outside for them to come out.'

Dunn gave no comment in police interview. She pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two offences of common assault on the basis of 'apprehension of violence.'

In mitigation solicitor advocate Adam Antoszkiw told JPs: 'Ultimately speaking it is entirely a matter for you whether the pregnancy made someone vulnerable in the particular circumstances.

'I dare say it makes a person more cautious but speaking from experience I am not sure if my wife would thank me for calling her vulnerable just for being pregnant.'

JPs sent Dunn for sentencing at Chester Crown Curt next month where she could face up to two and a half years under sentencing guidelines. She was given conditional bail and told not to contact Mr Cook or Miss Stead.
