Schoolboy arrested after man in his 70s and woman in her 60s stabbed

Emergency services responded to reports of a disturbance at a house in Ashington, Northumberland, just before 7am today.
Two ambulance crews, a specialist paramedic, and one HART crew (Hazardous Area Response Team) all arrived at the scene and discovered the pair suffering with injuries consistent with a blade.
However, both of them are now in a stable condition now.
The 14-year-old was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody as the force has confirmed there is no wider threat to members of the public.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: 'At 6.50am today we received a report of a disturbance at an address on Alexandra Road, in Ashington.
'It was reported that a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s had both sustained injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article.
'Emergency services attended and both the man and woman were taken to hospital where they remain in stable conditions.
'A full investigation is underway and officers have arrested a male – aged 14 – on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in police custody.
'Officers remain at the scene to carry out enquiries and there is no wider risk to the public.'
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called to an incident at a private address in Northumberland this morning shortly before 7am.
'We dispatched two ambulance crews, one specialist paramedics, one duty officer and one HART crew (Hazardous Area Response Team) and two patients were taken to hospital.'
