Bride reveals her mother-in-law excluded her from wedding photos
by Kelsi Karruli For Dailymail.Com · Mail OnlineA blushing bride has revealed she was left red-faced when her mother-in-law attempted to sabotage her wedding day by excluding her from her own photos.
The unnamed newlywed took to Reddit to reveal she had grown 'hurt' and frustrated with her husband's mom.
In a thread titled, Wedding Shaming, the bride admitted that her mother-in-law tried to upstage her by donning a white dress to her special event.
She revealed that there had been a 'lot of drama' leading up to the wedding and that it prompted her husband's mom to take family photos without the bride there.
The anonymous woman confessed that despite being the bride, she felt 'ignored' because her mother-in-law attempted to control her special day.
The post was titled: 'In-laws made changes day of without asking the bride or groom.'
At the beginning of the post she explained that although her wedding took place 'one month ago', she was still feeling embarrassed.
She revealed: 'My wedding was about a month ago and the more I reflect on it, the more embarrassed I get.
'Before the wedding, there was a lot of drama. I was hoping it would all come together for the wedding and everyone would get over it. They did not.
'My in-laws asked to pay for the rehearsal and we were very thankful of that. They then decided to not tip any vendors for the rehearsal, which made me have a panic attack in the bathroom during the event.'
In addition to neglecting the vendors during the rehearsal dinner, the bride revealed that her spouse's mom left her out of the family photos as well.
'My in-laws then proceeded to take “family photos” during the rehearsal dinner and did not include me. I was sitting at the table next to where the pictures were being taken and was not asked to join.
'I even stood up at one point and asked my parents what I should do and they were appalled. I have no pictures of myself from the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner,' she added.
Although the bride thought the chaos would come to an end on her wedding day, she was proven wrong as the drama reached a boiling point during the ceremony.
The bride revealed that her mom-in-law made a slew of changes without discussing it with her or her husband, leaving them in a fit of fury.
She said: 'On the day of the actual wedding, my mother-in-law decided to pay the DJ to change the mother-son dance from what her and her son had picked out to an upbeat dance song without telling my husband, who hates dancing. He was very uncomfortable with this decision.
'My mother-in-law also decided to give a speech last minute that she had not prepared. We had actually asked her at least two times if she wanted to give a speech at the wedding and she declined every time.
'She told our wedding planner she was going to give a speech and our wedding planner said that she needed approval from the bride and groom. I was never consulted by my mother-in-law.'
And if the last-minute changes weren't enough to ruin her special day, the bride admitted she was even more shocked when she discovered that her mother-in-law attempted to take the attention away from her by sporting a wedding dress - and convincing others to do the same.
The Reddit user said: 'The worst part is that MIL asked all of her friends to wear wedding dresses/white dresses to our wedding. Luckily, only one did. It was silver so not white but definitely a wedding dress. MIL wore a very very pale blue dress that was basically white. My friends all came up to me asking why there were two other people in wedding dresses (MIL and her best friend)
'Overall, I felt ignored as the bride and hurt that everyone allowed this to happen, even when I expressed that my feelings were hurt.
Following her heartbreaking post, people on the web flooded the comments section and slammed the mother-in-law for her behavior.
One person said: 'Why didn’t your husband say ANYTHING? Either about the pictures or the dresses?'
Someone else wrote: 'It’s only going to get worse.'
Another user added: '[I] can't believe this.'
'If your husband doesn't set her straight right now, get a divorce because it will not get better,' commented someone else.
