Calgary police looking for victim of August sexual assault in city's Beltline neighbourhood

Calgary police are asking the victim of a random sexual assault that occurred in August to contact police as officers are investigating the incident.

Police say the victim was walking in the area of 17th Avenue and Fifth Street S.W. on Saturday, Aug. 3 at approximately 3:40 a.m., when she was approached from behind by a naked man who touched her inappropriately.

She screamed, and the man fled the scene, the law enforcement agency said.

Witnesses reported the incident to police, but the victim left the area before investigators could identify her.

Police searched the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.

Officers are looking to speak with the victim, as it is believed she may have important information to add to the ongoing investigation.

The victim, or anyone else with information about the incident, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
